Ok, so my guy is an avid Abba fan, and he told me the other day that Abba was offered a couple million to get back together. Thank God they didn't. Now I find out that not only is there music annoying, but appearently they don't need any money either, since they were offered a billion dollars to get back together and they still won't do it.
People... their music wasn't that great. Really. We don't need them back together again that badly.
So I've looked through the last month or so of my posts and I've noticed that it's been quite some time since I have written anything about my horses. My guy and I have been riding our horses just about every weekend, and I have to say that for someone who doesn't know anything about horses, he's learning very quickly. Last weekend we went camping at Oleno with the horses, and he handled Reiny like he'd worked with horses his whole life.
We've been doing a lot of work around my place and I'm at the point now where I feel good about having people come out to visit me and see my place. We purchased a lawn tractor at Lowels a couple of weekends ago, so the weed population is finally under control. This weekend we are planning on putting up some more electric fence so that the horses can come up in part of the front yard without trashing the rest of the front yard. We are also looking into hydroseeding the front yard with Bahai grass. This will cause the grass to grow and establish quickly. The only problem with this is that we would have to keep the horses off of it for 2 months. We will also have to introduce the horses slowly to the grass, since the area that we have them on right now is nothing but sand and weeds. There is some grass out there, but it's a very small amount that they have grazed down to nothing.
I guess it's sorta funny to hear that we would have to introduce them to grass slowly when they haven't been on it. The reason why we have to do this is that when you put them on the grass when they haven't had that much in their diet, the amount of protien in their diet increases because of the protien in the grass. If there is a sudden increase of protien in a horse's diet, then the horse can suffer from laminitis and possibly founder. Both of these conditions are severly painful for horses and if the laminitis progresses to founder, the horse may be put down. My mare, Glori, appears to have had a mild case of laminitis prior to my purchase of her, so I have to be very careful with her since she has a tendency to have it. Both of our horses are very easy keepers, which means that it doesn't take much to keep them fed. This is another reason why we have to be careful when we put them on the grass, since they could very quickly get overweight.
I'm still thinking about doing endurance riding with Glori. I'd at least like to ride in one race with my mom, I think it would definetly be a lot of fun. I know my mom really enjoys it. Now that we have had the time change, I'll be able to ride in the evenings and work with Glori, so I'm going to see if I can get her into shape enough for me to take her into a ride this fall. She's in pretty good shape right now, but she's not ready for a 25 mile race. I think my guy would like to take Reiny and race with him as well, but it may turn out that endurance racing may not be a good thing for Reiny. It's hard to say at this point. I think once we get the property in really good shape, we will probably look for another horse that he can compete with. It would definetly be a lot of fun if all three of us could go to these races. :)
Yesterday, I found out that someone that I worked with for a couple of years ended up killing someone. The information in the news reports makes it hard to believe that this person killed someone else for so simple a reason as a disagreement over T-ball, and yet it happened. He didn't kill the guy in self defense, he bashed the guy in the back of the head with a baseball bat and the guy died the following day.
In the forum, we have been having a somewhat heated discussion about how supportive some people are being of this person because he is a friend of theirs. I'm rather perplexed by this. I've been told that I must never have had a strong friendship with someone because I'm capable of writing someone off if something like this happens.
Excuse me? Why should I want to remain friends with someone who killed someone else by picking up a bat and hitting them in the head from behind? Why should I be supportive of that person? What's to keep that person from doing the same thing to me at a later date?
I'm a redhead. Suffice it to say, I have a temper. I have gotten so mad at people before that I would just love to beat on them, and yet I don't. I choose to not cross that line. There is no excuse for anyone to loose their temper in that way, and if anyone that I knew of, be it friend or family, that did something to that extreme I would have nothing to do with them.
I am a very loyal person to people that I care about, but I also have a line with those people. When you cross that line, you are dangerous to me and I will not put myself in a position to cause harm to myself. It's basic survival instinct. My father was an alcoholic, and there were many times when I was growing up where I had no control over what happened to me because he drove when he was drunk. He could have gotten into an accident with me and mom in the car and we could have been seriously hurt or killed. Luckly, nothing did happen, but if it had, I never would have spoken to him again, and that is my dad.
Having a strong relationship with someone does not overcome the disgust and horror felt when that person intentionally strikes someone else with enough force to kill. Why feel supportive of that person because you know them when if it had been someone that you didn't know, you would have reacted otherwise? What makes one instance different from another one?
I'm sure the email has made it to you at one point or another, but I got it today and it made me chuckle... so shut up and read it. ;) Oh, and have a nice day. :)

My friend Xkot made a very amusing post about coffee this morning, and it reminded me of my love/hate relationship I have with that beverage. Let me say first off that I am in no way shape or form, a morning person. Don't talk to me, don't look at me, don't get near me until I have been up for at least an hour. This makes for very interesting relationships, especially right now since I'm dating a morning person. Anyone who can wake up "bright eyed and busy tailed" at 6am needs drugs.
My mother is somewhat the same way. She doesn't want anyone to bother her until after she has had her 2 cups of coffee. She has been trying to get me to drink coffee for as long as I can remember, she says that it will help me be a nicer person in the morning. Yeah right. It would take more than coffee for that to happen. ;)
I have given in from time to time and drank the stuff and it does help me stay awake. However, if you were to look at what I was drinking, it was more like I had a small amount of coffee with my cream and sugar. The only time that I have been completely wired was when I had some that had been sweetened to the point that it tasted like vanilla and chocolate... it was very good and I ended up not sleeping that night cause I got so wired.
So why am I babbling about coffee? No clue. Boredom, perhaps, and the fact that I haven't posted anything in a long damn time on this blog. Plus I'm also trying to stay awake at work... maybe I should go get some coffee right now.
